Lithuania’s grain harvest increased by 22% in 2015 y-o-y

Lithuania’s grain harvest rose by 22.5% in 2015, to 6.521 million tons, from 5.324 million tons in 2014, data from Statistics Lithuania showed on February 1st, reports LETA/BNS.
The statistics office attributed the rise to the increases of 13% in yield and of 8% in the total harvested area.
Winter cereals production last year surged by 78% to 3.773 million tons. Meanwhile, the production of summer cereals fell by 24% to 2.294 million tons while the legumes harvest soared more than twofold to 454,700 tons.
Individual farm holdings and family farms accounted for 79% of the total cereals production in 2015.
