Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil), Lithuania’s state-controlled petroleum products terminal operator, is loading the longest tanker in its history, reports LETA/BNS.

The 281-meter long Hrvatska, which is sailing under the flag of Croatia, is the longest tanker that ever moored at the petroleum products terminal of the Lithuanian company.

“The beginning of the year has brought a new record, which shows that we’re able to receive large tankers, which enables our customers to plan more efficient loading logistics. Looking ahead, we’re optimistic about the quay reconstruction and harbor deepening works planned by the port of Klaipeda,” Klaipedos Nafta CEO, Mantas Bartuska, said in a press release.

The company plans to load approximately 100,000 tons of heavy fuel oil onto the tanker with a capacity of 166,000 tons.

The previous record of the longest tanker handled by the terminal belonged to the 275-meter-long HS Alcina, which called at the port in 2014.

According to the data made available by the port of Klaipeda, the number of longer-than-200-meter vessels calling at the port last year increased to 215, from 198 in 2014.
