The Latvian airline airBaltic and the Spanish airline Iberia have concluded a cooperation agreement, known in the industry as a code-share agreement. This cooperation will offer convenient connections to Southern Europe for airBaltic customers, while Iberia’s passengers will benefit from better access to Northern Europe, reports BC Janis Vanags.

Wolfgang Reuss, SVP of Network Management of airBaltic: “As we reinforce links between Riga and other hubs, our customers benefit immediately from better connectivity with regions where direct flights are unavailable. A strong family of partner airlines with whom we code-share ensures smooth and seamless travel for airBaltic customers via these points. Current code-share partners include most of the major European airlines. We are very pleased to add Iberia to this growing family.”

Neil Chernoff, Iberia’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Alliances: “With this agreement Iberia and Air Baltic improve their product offering for customers travelling between the Baltic States and Spain and Southern Europe, through competitive connections in Brussels, Dusseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Our clients will benefit from shorter and easier connections between Madrid and Riga, and the improved schedule will help to increase travel demand between our markets.”

The new partnership will offer passengers convenient connections between Riga (Latvia) and Madrid (Spain) Riga through common gateway airports in Europe.
