The volume of international maxi letters handled by the state owned Estonian postal company Eesti Post, which conducts business under the Omniva trade mark, grew 16-fold in 2015 compared with 2014, reports LETA/BNS.

"As a result of cooperation between Omniva and the Chinese logistics company SF Express and the launch of Post 11, the volumes of international maxi letters grew by almost 1,500% in 2015. In contrast, in 2014 the corresponding number grew by 113%," spokesman Mattias Kaiv told BNS.

"Based on the current growth trends it can be expected that the revenue of the subsidiary will surpass that of the parent company soon," Kaiv added.

He said the destinations for most of the transit mail handled by the company are Ukraine and Russia, with other countries of Europe accounting for a smaller portion.

Kaiv said collaboration with SF Express, the biggest delivery company in China, definitely has cut delivery times. "Where in the fall one Chinese plane on the average landed in Tallinn per week, before Christmas their number was two or three per week," he said.
