BC, Tallinn, 21.09.2015.Print version
Ukraine tested using on September 18th mobile-ID, created by Estonian company AS Sertifitseerimiskeskus, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Specifically, the innovative for Ukraine technology was implemented by the country's largest mobile operator Kievstar, whose technological partner in creating the mobile-ID service was AS Sertifitseerimiskeskus.

"We won the tender held by Kievstar and today (September 18th) launched the first pilot and the festive presentation took place," Sertifitseerimiskeskus Marketing Manager Sandra Roosna said.

The new service was presented today at the Electronic Forum in Lviv, officially, the service will be introduced in nearly three months' time.

The Mobile-ID service is exactly identical to that used in Estonia – Lviv residents must obtain a new SIM card holding the corresponding functionality. The first public service, which can already be used, is asking from the Lviv city government the certificate proving that a person has no valid punishment. For the service to be more widespread, it must receive the approval of the Ukrainian government and acquire the approval of the Ministry of Justice on the protection of personal data.

Launch of mobile-ID also creates the prerequisite for using ID card service in Ukraine.

Although Ukraine is the first country in the world, where the mobile-ID service created in Estonia will be introduced, similar work is ongoing in Lithuania.
