Demand of self-service parcel terminals in Lithuania is growing in 2015

Self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS 24 usage continues to grow rapidly in Lithuania. Only this year (from January to July 2015), demand for self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS 24 has doubled compared with 2014, reported BC press service of Lietuvos pastas.

From January to July 2015,  self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS 24 usage increased by more than 100 percent in comparison with the same period last year.

 

“We are pleased, that self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS 24 has become a convenient way to dispatch and receive parcels to business and residential customers. Fast growing electronic commerce and a possibility to use self-service terminals 24 hours per day, allow to discover this service to more and more people. I have no doubt that the demand of self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS 24 will increase even more in the future,” said Juozas Buitkus – the Head of Lithuanian Post subsidiary Baltic Post, which operates self-service terminals LP EXPRESS 24.

 

Self-service terminals LP EXPRESS 24 are mostly used by residents of the three largest towns in Lithuania – Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. From January to July, business customers have used self-service terminals almost twice as much as last year, whereas, residential customers' participation has increased by 128 percent compared with the same period in 2014. S and M size parcels were the most popular ones, which respectively accounted for 44 and 38 percent of the whole terminal parcels number.

 

Mr. Buitkus pointed out that not all European countries can be proud of having self-service parcel terminals. As he emphasized: “I am aware that the Swedes, Portuguese, Croats and Slovenians have no opportunity to use self-service terminals yet, while Switzerland's self-service terminals network is twice smaller than the one in Lithuania. What we have achieved during the last 4 years is a huge accomplishment.”

 

Currently, there are 71 self-service parcel terminals LR EXPRESS 24 equipped in Lithuania. Using these self-service terminals it is possible to dispatch parcels not only within Lithuania but also to 22 European countries. Compared with 2014, dispatch of parcels abroad increased by 92 percent.
