Processing industry growth in Latvia hits highest height since end-2012

Print versionThe Finance Ministry in Latvia had good news yesterday – growth in Latvia's processing industry has soared 7.6% in March 2015 (year-on-year) – hitting the highest height since end-2012, reports LETA.

The past ten months, growth in processing is at 2% – and after slight dips the past five months, a surge is registered again, causing the Finance Ministry to state that the industry has "returned to stable growth."
All processing branches registered growth, with the determining factor definitely the reopening of the Liepajas Metalurgs plant in Liepaja.
Even though statistics are not being released on production volume, reports say that in March the plant signed its first export contract – with Algeria, and manufactured were 15,000 tons of steel wire.
