Starting April 2015, Lithuania Post is going to increase salaries paid to its employees working in the lowest-paid positions. In the course of the current year, EUR 1 million will be additionally allocated to enlarge the salary fund, reported BC press service of Lithuania Post.

"I am glad that Lithuania Post has a socially-driven attitude towards the company's employees and increases both their income and satisfaction with the company and life in Lithuania," Minister of Transport and Communications Rimantas Sinkevicius commented on Lithuania Post's decision.

"Lithuania Post is one of the largest employees in Lithuania. In cooperation with trade unions carrying out their activities within the company, we are striving to improve working conditions, to make investments into the employee's education, and to generate and increase motivation. Considering the changes in the market, we have revised salaries of the largest part of employees. As of April, EUR 1 million will be allocated to the salary fund," CEO of Lithuania Post Lina Minderiene said.

Alma Smilgiene and Svajunas Andriulis, chairpersons of trade unions active within the company, said they were glad that the company has used favourable circumstances to increase the salary fund.

"We are pleased to have a close cooperation with the management of the company. Last year, a new collective agreement was signed. This agreement provided additional opportunities and privileges, and this year, as a result of better financial performance, we can talk about salary rise for the lowest-paid positions," representatives of the trade unions said.

The additional funds will be paid in a form of increased basic salary. It is estimated that more than 3,000 employees – heads of post offices, customer service specialists, postmen in mail escort, sorting staff, and operators – will receive higher salaries.
