Tallink looking for ways to add second ferry to Riga-Stockholm route

The Estonian ferry company Tallink is looking for ways to once again have two ferries running on the Riga-Stockholm route, the newspaper ''Dienas Bizness'' reports today, cites LETA.

Riga Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks told the newspaper that it was hoped that the company would once again resume daily departures on the Riga-Stockholm route from March 16, meaning that a second ferry would be added. However, this has not happened. He said that the company is interested in keeping this route, but that they are having problems finding a suitable ferry. ''As soon as they find a suitable ferry, a second ship will be added to the route,'' he said.

Tallink previously stated that it is not ruling out that it will add a second ferry to the Riga-Stockholm route in the future.

As reported, last August, the ferry "Romantika" was taken off the Riga-Stockholm route, meaning that ferry trips from Riga to Stockholm take place every other day instead of every day like before.

Tallink Grupp is one of the largest shipping companies in the Baltics. The company's annual passenger turnover is 9.1 million, it employs almost 6,900 people in Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Russia and Germany.
