Estonia's second-largest producer of alcohol Altia Eesti AS's net sales grew by nearly 15% in 2014, reaching 37.3 million euros, on which the company paid 17.4 million euros in excise duties, LETA/Delfi Ärileht reports.

The sale of beverages produced by Altia Eesti itself amounted to nearly 21.3 million euros and the wholesale of beverages it bought in nearly 16 million euros, the company announced.

Altia sold, due to huge export growth, seven million litres of alcohol, or nearly a third more than in 2013, while the sales in Estonia remained at 3.7 million litres.

The company's net profit was 1.6 million euros last year.

Altia Corporation's subsidiary Altia Eesti AS is Estonia's second largest spirits producer; the production of alcoholic beverages forms 57% of its activities and imports nearly 43%.

The company's own production export countries are Latvia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Armenia. At the end of the year 2014, the company had 85 employees.
