Estonians bought an increasing amount of 4G phones in February

According to the market research company GfK Retail and Technology analysis, in February, 55% of all mobile phones sold in Estonia were 4G devices, LETA/Õhtuleht writes.

A total 27,500 new mobile phones were sold in Estonia in February, which is five percent more than a year ago at the same time.

 

According to GfK, the sale of 4G devices exceeded for the first time the sale of devices of earlier generations.

 

Tele2 Estonia's sales and marketing director Kristjan Seema says that according to a fresh survey, nearly 90% of Estonians buy a new smartphone at least once every two years and currently a bigger wave is taking place, where consumers are opting for phones enabling fast Internet. Seema added that the 4G has reached the consumer mainstream.

 

According to GfK's Estonian retail market-survey, 20,400 smartphones and 7,100 button phones for more than six million euros were sold in February. Average price was 222 euros.
