Export of Latvian wooden furniture grows by 7.3% in 2014

The value of Latvian wooden furniture exports in 2014 increased by 7.3% from 2013 to a total of EUR 119.98 million, which is 6% of the total forest industry exports last year, reports LETA, according to a report presented by the Agriculture Ministry's Department of Forests.

The largest part of Latvian furniture exported abroad, 17.1% or EUR 20.48 million worth, went to Germany. The share of Denmark was 12.6% and of Great Britain 10.7%.

 

In contrast, the value of imported wooden furniture decreased 6.6%, from EUR 65.08 million in 2013 to EUR 60.60 million last year. Most of imported wooden furniture came from Italy – 28.1%, Poland – 22%, and Lithuania – 8.3% of total imports of wooden furniture last year.

 

As reported, Latvian forest industry's exports amounted to a record-high EUR 2.015 billion in 2014, which is 8.6% up from 2013 when the forest industry's exports totaled EUR 1.855 billion.


At the same time, forest industry imports also increased last year, amounting to EUR 688.740 million – 17.3% more than in 2013.
