Dun gave at the press conference after the meeting primarily expressions of courtesy and did not want to talk about specific products or deadlines, when the Estonian agricultural products could reach the Chinese market.
Ivari Padar said however, that after a break of several years, the communications with China have since last autumn become very active, and the Chinese themselves have begun to show more interest in Estonia.
Padar did not want to speak of any dates either, but said that this year certainly a big step forward will be made in opening up that market.
Estonia currently exports to China fish products and frozen berries, but is interested in opening up the market for milk and meat products. This requires approval by the Chinese Food Office to the quality of Estonian products. Estonia has applied for it a long time, and all papers should be okay, but the permission has still not come from the Chinese state.
