Vejonis to make visit to UAE in February
The Latvian Investment and Development Agency has already called on entrepreneurs to sign up for a business delegation that will be accompanying the president on the trip.
Twelve Latvian food producers will be taking part in GulFood 2016, an international food industry fair scheduled to take place in Dubai during the Latvian president's visit, LETA was told at the agency.
Promoting economic ties with the UAE and states of the Gulf region is one of Latvia's foreign economic policy priorities. The Latvian embassy, headed by Charge d'Affaires Rudolfs Bremanis, has been working in Abu Dhabi since August 2014. In April 2015, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency opened its representation in Dubai.
Food, IT, tourism and medical tourism, as well as construction and education have been identified as the most perspective areas for cooperation between Latvia and the UAE. Entrepreneurs representing other spheres and already doing business in the UAE have also been invited to join the Latvian business delegation.
The trade mission is organized by the Latvian Foreign Ministry and the Latvian Investment and Development Agency in close collaboration with business organizations in the UAE. The events planned during the visit include bilateral meetings of entrepreneurs, a business forum and a tourism seminar.
