BC, Vilnius, 18.09.2014.Print version
Lithuanian parliament, with 61 members voting in favour, 5 against with 2 abstentions, has adopted the Law on the Bank of Lithuania, which had been returned by President Dalia Grybauskaite for improvement, along with all amendments proposed by the president, informs LETA/ELTA.

The proposal to adopt entire returned law excluding the president's amendments was voted 23 in favour, 30 against with 30 abstentions.

Under the proposal of Grybauskaite, the law has been supplemented with a provision saying that at the reasoned request of the Seimas' Committee on Budget and Finance, the Bank of Lithuania will be providing confidential information on the warnings and/or recommendations regarding its implementation of macroprudential policy.

The law also states that the governor of the Bank of Lithuania once a year (in the case of the financial crisis – more often) will be interviewed by the Committee on Budget and Finance regarding macroprudential policy implemented by the Bank of Lithuania.
