BC, Riga, 02.04.2014.Print version
Today, Latvia paid off ten-year eurobonds worth EUR 400 million, LETA learned from the State Treasury.

At the end of the day, the State Treasury is projected to hold a total of EUR 0.6 billion.

From now and until the end of the year, insignificant foreign debt payoffs to international financial institutions are to take place.

The next major payoff is scheduled for mid-2015, when Latvia will have to repay the other portion of the European Commission's loan of EUR 1.2 billion.

At the end of March, the State Treasury repaid the first part of the loan issued to Latvia by the European Commission during the country's economic crisis – EUR 1 billion.

This year, Latvia is planning to borrow money on both local and foreign markets. The State Treasury is constantly following the developments on the financial markets, which will determine the time, currency and other parameters of the next loans that the government will borrow.
