Lithuanians send money mostly to Russia and Great Britain

As data available by Lithuania Post (Lietuvos pastas) says, last year the majority of money orders were sent to Russia, Great Britain, Ukraine, and Belarus, reports LETA/ELTA.

These countries account for the most popular destinations making in total two thirds of all money orders sent with intermediation of Lithuania Post, Lithuania Post reports.

 

Other popular destinations to send money orders are Germany, Poland, Spain, the USA, Ireland, and Latvia. Sometimes it happens that Lithuanians send money orders to such remote countries as Peru, Philippines, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Brazil, Morocco, Columbia, Mauritania, Tanzania, or Kenya. All in all, last year with the help of Lithuania Post residents have sent money orders to 129 countries worldwide.

 

Despite the fact that usually Lithuanians send money to neighbouring countries, the largest amounts go to other countries. For example, the average amount of money orders sent to Belgium is LTL 1,570 (EUR 455), Denmark – LTL 1,440 (EUR 417), USA – LTL 1,410 (EUR 409), Spain – LTL 1,280 (EUR 371). The average amount sent to Russia makes LTL 800 (EUR 232), Belarus – LTL 380 (EUR 110), Ukraine – LTL 490 (EUR 142), Lithuania Post says.
