External assets of Lithuania's national bank increase in April

In April 2012, external assets and external liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania increased by 1.4 billion litas and 307.5 million litas respectively, the Bank of Lithuania said in a statement.

At the end of the month, these indicators were equal to 22 billion litas and 429.5 million litas correspondingly, writes LETA/ELTA.

 

Deposits of residents with the Bank of Lithuania went up in April by 951.8 million litas, and made up nine billion litas at the end of the month. Deposits of residents increased due to a 1.3 billion litas rise of central government deposits, while deposits of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) contracted by 362.3 million litas.

 

At the end of April, deposits of other MFIs and central government deposits amounted to 2.7 billion litas, and 6.2 billion litas respectively.

 

Currency in circulation increased by 125.7 million litas in April and made up 10.6 billion litas at the end of the month. Capital and reserves went down in April by 70.2 million litas and stood at 1.9 billion litas at the end of the month.
