Bank of Latvia's external reserves at end-January – EUR 4.7 bln

The Bank of Latvia's external reserves decreased by 5% from December to EUR 4.7 billion (LVL 3.29 billion) at the end of January 2012, as the business information portal Nozare.lv learned from the central bank.

At the end of December, the central bank's external reserves were at EUR 4.94 billion (LVL 3.4 billion), writes LETA.

 

In November of last year, the central bank's external reserves were EUR 5.176 billion, in October – EUR 5.508 billion, in September – EUR 5.733 billion, in August – EUR 5.698 billion, in July – EUR 5.417 billion, in June – EUR 5.469 billion, and in May – EUR 5.268 billion.

 

The bulk of the Bank of Latvia's external reserves, or EUR 4.26 billion (LVL 2.98 billion), was made up of foreign convertible currencies.

 

At the end of January, the central bank's gold reserves stood at EUR 326.95 million (LVL 228.9 million).

 

The Bank of Latvia's special drawing rights amounted to EUR 110.76 million (LVL 77.5 million), and reserve position in the International Monetary Fund – to EUR 70,000 (LVL 49,000).
