Bank of Latvia to issue collector coin dedicated to ecology

BC, Riga, 29.10.2020.Print version
On November 3, the Bank of Latvia is issuing a silver collector coin Linden Leaf, dedicated to ecology, emphasizing the importance of taking good care of our environment, LETA learned from the bank.

The coin has the shape of a linden leaf, and its obverse features a leaf venation pattern. The network of Riga streets symbolically depicts the leaf venation on the reverse of the coin.

The collector coin dedicated to ecology was developed as an environment-friendly project: recycled silver was used for minting, and recycled paper was used for producing its packaging and informational materials.

The bank noted that due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the purchase of coins will be possible only on the website e-monetas.lv from 12.00 (noon) on November 3.

The author of the graphic design is Marcis Kalnins. The author of the plaster model of the coin is Ligita Franckevica.

The price of the coin via e-monetas.lv is EUR 53; the purchase limit for one buyer will be five coins. The coin was struck by Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt (the Netherlands).

The collector coin Linden Leaf is legal tender in the Republic of Latvia, yet the release of such coins in circulation is highly unlikely, as collector coins are in fact works of art and are in high demand among coin collectors and other interested parties.
