Covid-10 Latvia: Employees in catering and accommodation sector may receive EUR 300 grant a month
BC, Riga, 21.05.2020.Print version
Every employee working in the catering and accommodation sector may receive a grant worth EUR 300 a month for a three-month period, Economics Minister Janis Vitenbergs told LETA.
If all employees in the sector apply for this grant, it would cost EUR 36 mln from the budget. The minister said that it is not yet clear which budget program will be used for these grants.
He said that the Economics Ministry has proposed a two-stage support mechanism for catering and accommodation companies - grants to promote employment and loans with no interest for current assets.
The minister reported that companies working in the catering and accommodation sector report at least EUR 77 mln loss for a time period since the middle of March. About 4,000 companies have sustained loss, which leaves a negative impact on about 40,000 employees.
