Covid-19 Latvia: Downtime benefit will be paid also to self-employed persons who receive additional income from creative or teaching jobs
BC, Riga, 22.04.2020.Print version
The work group lead by Finance Minister Janis Reirs (New Unity) on Wednesday decided to amend the regulations on payment of downtime benefits, providing that downtime benefits are also paid to self-employed persons who receive additional income from creative and teaching jobs, reported LETA/BNS.
According to the amendments, benefits will be paid to self-employed persons who receive additional income from creative and teaching jobs that does not exceed the minimum monthly wage.
Also, benefits will be paid to those self-employed persons who are employers. "As the tax regime of individual merchants and micro enterprise tax payer allows a possibility to employ persons, the current restrictions discriminate these business representatives," the ministry said.
The work group also agreed to re-define the persons affected by the crisis.
