Non-bank lenders in Latvia issue loans worth EUR 309.04 mln in H1

Non-bank lenders issued loans worth EUR 309.04 mln in January-June this year, which is 10.1% more than in the first half of 2017, the Consumer Rights Protection Center's representative Santa Zarane informed LETA.

Non-bank lenders' total loan portfolio amounted to EUR 655.82 mln at the end of June, an increase of 7.1% on the first half of 2018, said Zarane.


EUR 126.65 mln was issued in online loans in January-June, which makes up 41% of all non-bank lenders' loans issued during the first six months. Leasing and loans secured by other collateral totaled EUR 94.36 mln - 30% of all new loans.


"The quality of non-bank lenders' total loan portfolio is stable and continued to improve during the first six months of 2018," commented the Consumer Rights Protection Center. The proportion of loans paid on time was 87.7% as of June 30, 2018, or almost two percentage points more than in June 2017.


In the first half of 2018, there were 56 licensed and active non-bank lenders in Latvia.
