BC, Vilnius, 13.05.2015.Print version
Lithuanian Finance Minister Rimantas Sadzius attended the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in Brussels on Tuesday. The council discussed the state and progress of negotiations with the European Parliament on the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI). Lithuania is pleased that its proposals have been taken into account when negotiating over EFSI's regulations, reports LETA/ELTA.

"It is important for Lithuania that when considering proposals on EFSI's regulations the definition of national development banks and investment platforms was expanded. It is also important that the presiding country included Lithuania's proposals regarding the scope of EFSI's activities in the energy sector – the aspect of energy supply security was included. Involvement of Member States in preparation of project lists is also significant," emphasised Lithuania's finance minister.

ECOFIN is expected to reach a political decision on EFSI in June and the European Parliament would vote in July.
