It has been determined that in 2011-2013 Lithuanian electricity distribution operator Lesto has included certain costs into distribution services which it had no right to include. Therefore, at the expense of consumers it accrued around LTL 137 million (EUR 39.7 million) in extra profit, informed LETA/ELTA, referring to Vakaro zinios.

Meanwhile, neither electricity consumers, nor heating consumers received as much as a promise about compensations after retroactive reduction of gas price by Gazprom.

The National Commission for Energy Control and Prices (VKEKK) has decided that excess profit has to be returned to consumers in three years through slightly reduced electricity distribution rates. The final electricity price should become known on the last day of November.

The VKEKK has informed the daily Vakaro Zinios that Lesto requested to be allowed to return excess profit in five years, while the VKEKK thought it should be done in one year. However, finally a compromise was reached and it was settled on a three year period.
