Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevicius says the construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal is on schedule and will be completed in the first half of November 2014, reports LETA/ELTA.

Butkevicius is visiting Klaipeda on Tuesday where together with the LNG terminal operators, contractors and subcontractors he will discuss smooth operation of the terminal's infrastructure and its security matters.

"The whole infrastructure of the terminal has to operate as a coherent mechanism, we will discuss this," Butkevicius told the national radio LRT. The prime minister added that attention towards the project increases the closer it gets to completion.

The head of the Government assured that construction work on the terminal will be completed at the beginning of November, while the final work schedule will be discussed with contractors on Tuesday in Klaipeda.

According to the prime minister, the deadline for work completion should be set because LNG carrier Independence will dock in Klaipeda in early November.

Commenting possible future gas price Butkevicius said it will be calculated based on a formula and assured that the price will be competitive, even though it may fluctuate and be higher in winter than in summer.
