Biofuel price in Lithuania should be by EUR 8.7 per toe lower in winter

Last heating season, according to the data of the National Commission for Energy Control and Prices (VKEKK), the average biofuel price per toe stood at LTL 687 (EUR 199).
On Tuesday, 19 August, nine transactions worth LTL 1.4 million (EUR 405 thousand) were made at Baltpool biofuel energy exchange. Fuel worth total of LTL 5.9 million (EUR 1.7 million) was sold in auctions in August, i.e. almost half of Baltpool turnover in 2014. In January-August the total turnover in Baltpool exchange reached approximately LTL 8.4 million (EUR 2.4 million).
Baltpool representatives note that prices in the exchange remain competitive. According to the data recently published by the VKEKK, the average biofuel price in July, which often depends on prices settled in bilateral agreements, stood at LTL 629 (EUR 182) per toe. It was by LTL 100 (EUR 29) more compared to the price reached in transactions in Baltpool exchange – LTL 528 (EUR 153) per toe.
