Lithuania's PM: no need for begging from Gazprom

BC, Vilnius, 17.09.2013.Print version
Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius says that there is no need to ask for any discounts from Russian gas giant Gazprom. According to Butkevicius, a constructive negotiation over the new gas price should take place instead of begging for mercy, writes LETA/ELTA.

"That word (discounts – ELTA) is inappropriate in the negotiation. We must not speak as if begging for something but to discuss the new realistic price of gas and the new formula that will be applied when estimating the new gas price," said the prime minister in the interview with the national radio LRT on Tuesday.

According to Butkevicius, negotiations with Gazprom are currently in progress.

He also said that there were no concrete dates when the decisions would be made and the response to Gazprom would be given, yet efforts were being made to achieve it as soon as possible.
