Ignalina NPP allowed to operate low-level radioactive waste repository

Print versionState Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) has issued a license to the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) to operate with very low-level radioactive waste repository, informs LETA/ELTA.

Once an industrial storage operation starts, nuclear fuel cycle materials that are intended for storage in repository will be transported.
The storage of very low-level radioactive waste is temporary. This is the first part of the short-lived very low level waste repository project. The goal of this project is to construct short-lived low-level waste repository landfill.
