Alexela buys Veolia's waste management business

The objects of sale are AS Veolia Keskkonnateenused (AS Veolia Environmental Services) and Veolia's 65% stake in AS Tallinna Jäätmete Taaskasutuskeskus (AS Tallinn Waste Recycling Centre). Veolia Keskkonnateenused owns AS Tallinna Sekto and its subsidiary OÜ Sekto-Pärnu and 25% stake in Infokaitsesüsteemide OÜ. Veolia Keskkonnateenused owns also Resk OÜ and OÜ Kudjape Ümberlaadimisjaam and a 40.3% stake in OÜ Prügimees. The latter is accompanied by a stake in subsidiary OJ Projekt OÜ.
In Lithuania, Alexela Energia acquired UAB Veolia Environmental Services Lietuva together with subsidiary UAB Veolia Environmental Services Klaipeda.
AS Alexela Energia council chairman Heiti Hääl said in a press release that he would first contact the Competition Board and Tallinn city government, which is a co-shareholder in Tallinna Jäätmete Taaskasutuskeskus, in order to discuss new ideas.
AS Veolia Keskkonnateenused is market leader in Estonia in collection and handling of waste. The group services around 415,000 residents and annual waste management volume is over 100,000 tonnes. In 2011, the company's consolidated turnover was 20.9 million euros.
AS Tallinna Jäätmete Taaskasutuskeskus is Estonia's largest waste treatment facility with capacity of 170,000 tonnes a year. The company's turnover last year was 7.6 million euros.
