The public procurement tender was won by the consortium formed by Tetas UAB and Empower AB. The value of the contract stands at nearly 55 million litas, with 30 percent of the funds to be allocated from the European Regional Development Fund. The reconstruction of the Klaipeda substation is planned to be completed by the end of 2014, writes LETA/ELTA.
The Klaipeda substation reconstruction project includes the integration of an electric current converter necessary for the international power link NordBalt. A similar converter will be installed at the Nybro substation in Sweden. Upon the engagement of the Klaipeda – Telsiai electricity transmission line, the Klaipeda transformer substation will become one of the most important facilities of the electricity transmission network, by which electricity will be transmitted between the Lithuanian and Swedish power systems.
The works on the international link NordBalt are being carried out in line with the schedule: the contracts with subcontractors have been signed and the production of the entire amount of cables necessary for the link was launched last year. NordBalt link is to be put into operation in December 2015.
