Westinghouse presents its bid to build Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant

The Prime Minister will have a meeting with Corporate Senior Vice-President of Toshiba Corporation and President of Toshiba Power Systems Company Yasuharu Igarashi. The Westinghouse Electric Company since 2006 has been owned by Toshiba Corporation, whose annual turnover amounts to LTL 170 billion.
Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius notes that the visit of high-ranking officials demonstrates a serious attitude on behalf of the potential strategic investor.
At 8.30 on Thursday, the delegation is to meet with the Commission for the Implementation of the NPP Project led by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, later in the day at 14.30, there will be a press briefing given by the Senior Vice President of Toshiba Corporation and President of Toshiba Power Systems Company Yasuharu Igarashi, and Anders Jackson, President of Westinghouse for Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius.
The regional Visaginas NPP Project is one of the most advanced new nuclear developments in Europe. The preparatory works of the Project have already been completed, including Environmental Impact Assessment and site suitability evaluations, the results of which have been obtained positive IAEA evaluations.
It is planned that Visaginas NPP will be in operation by 2020.
