As the Astravyets nuclear power plant started producing electricity on Tuesday, Lithuania's National Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) has on Friday revoked permits to import electricity from Belarus, informs LETA/BNS.

Such permits were revoked from Energridas, Alpiq Energy, AJ Power, Aiveks, Energijos Kodas, A. En. Slovensko and Spectrum Baltic, the VERT said.

Meanwhile, Inter RAO Lietuva's permission was amended by revoking the possibility to import electricity from Belarus. The company's spokesman Juozas Ruzgys told BNS earlier this week it had not imported Belarusian electricity this year and was just importing from the Russian region of Kaliningrad.

Lithuania's power transmission system operator Litgrid told BNS that three companies in fact imported electricity from Belarus this year and they included Lithuania's Energijos Kodas, Latvia's AJ Power and Slovakia's A. En. Slovensko.

Robertas Macenskas, CEO and shareholder of Energijos Kodas, told BNS earlier this week that the company imports Ukrainian, not Belarusian, electricity.

The VERT said companies engaged activity without a permit would face fines of up to 10 percent of their income received from such activity.
