VKG not planning to shut down Ojamaa mine
"We will not close down the mine, we will go on working," Irina Bojenko, PR chief for VKG, told BNS on Tuesday.
She said that people suspected of having contracted the infection will not be allowed to their workplace before testing.
The PR chief said that 90 workers were tested for the virus on Tuesday and a further over 120 employees are to be tested on Wednesday. Over the course of the week, the company is planning to test more than half of the workers of the mine.
Bojenko pointed out that all the cases so far are to do with a specific section of the mine whose workers only have limited contact with others and where work can be reorganized with the help of backup staff.
In addition, the company is planning to conduct extensive disinfection of ensure a safe work environment.
