New LNG shipment set to arrive in Lithuania's Klaipeda

A new LNG shipment, meant for Litgas, is scheduled to arrive in Lithuania's port of Klaipeda on Wednesday. It will be a 12th shipment this year, reported LETA/BNS.

Dovile Ringis, spokeswoman for the Klaipeda port authority, toldon Tuesday the Arctic Discoverer LNG carrier is expected to enter the port on Wednesday morning.


Arturas Ketlerius, a communication project manager at Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy), operating Litgas, told  that the shipment contained around 140,000 cubic meters of LNG.


Arctic Discoverer is brining LNG from the Melkoya plant in Norway, operated by Equinor (former Statoil).


The last LNG shipment of 139,000 cubic meters arrived in Klaipeda on Nov. 2. The terminal's operator, Klaipedos Nafta, then confirmed that the gas carrier brought LNG for Jonava-based fertilizer producer Achema.


All in all, 11 large LNG carriers have arrived in Klaipeda this year, Klaipedos Nafta said.
