Companies of Fortum Eesti, a holding of the Finnish Fortum Power and Heat OY energy group, were the biggest recipients of renewable energy support and high-efficiency cogeneration support in Estonia in September, receiving altogether 1.5 million euros, writes LETA/BNS.

That amount of money was paid out as a subsidy to Fortum Eesti AS and its subsidiary Anne Soojus AS combined.

The next biggest recipients of subsidy were Enefit Taastuvenergia OU and companies of Nelja Energia group, both of which received one million euros, it appears from data available from the transmission system operator Elering.

Altogether, Elering paid out over 5.5 million euros in renewable energy support and 102,900 euros in high-efficiency cogeneration support during September.

In the first nine months of the year Elering paid out 51.8 million euros under the former and 2.3 million euros under the latter item.

The list of recipients of the subsidy in the nine months was topped by Fortum Eesti and Anne Soojus with 14.2 million euros, Enefit Taastuvenergia OU being in second place with 11.1 million euros and companies of Nelja Energia third with 9.8 million euros.

Elering is planning to pay out 76.7 million euros in support for renewable energy production this year. After the first nine months, 53% of that amount had been disbursed.

Renewable energy support and high-efficiency cogeneration support are deemed state aid.
