The natural gas supply and trade company Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas owned by the state-owned Lietuvos Energija Group signed a contract on gas supply with the largest Latvian natural gas consumer Latvenergo, informed BC company's press service.

Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas currently has more than 10 wholesale and retail contracts with companies operating in Latvia, and plans to supply about 1.2 TWh of natural gas to them by the end of the year, thus taking up about 10% of the Latvian natural gas supply market of this year and establishing in the second place following the former monopolist supplier Latvijas Gaze.

“Such sales results achieved in a few months show that we are competitive, capable of offering both good prices and pricing novelties necessary for customers, - said Mantas Mikalajūnas, CEO of Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas. - Given the fact that the Latvian market opened up after the end of the cold season when natural gas consumption is the greatest, this is a solid and pleasing result”.

Considering the sales results and orders for the remaining part of the year, Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas has recently purchased two additional cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and already started supplying gas to the underground storage facility in Latvia.

“This year, we will become the first natural gas supplier exploiting possibilities provided by natural gas infrastructure of the Baltic States, namely, the LNG terminal and gas storage facility. We need this to be able to offer flexible and competitive conditions of supply to consumers”, - CEO of Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas Mantas Mikalajūnas explained.

Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas is the main supplier of natural gas to residents, companies and organizations of Lithuania meeting the needs of more than 560 000 customers. The company has a diversified supply portfolio and imports gas via the pipeline and LNG terminal, also using the Inčukalns natural gas storage facility.
