Lithuania to buy another LNG shipment from US

BC, Vilnius, 12.07.2017.Print version
Lithuania's natural gas supply and trade company Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (Lithuanian Gas Supply, or LDT) will purchase the second shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, informs LETA/BNS.

The company said it had signed a contract with LNG trade company Natural Gas Fenosa. Under the deal, the gas should reach the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda in mid-September from the US Sabine Pass terminal. This will be the second LNG shipment purchased by Lithuania from the US.

"The additional amount of gas was purchased in light of the needs of clients in Lithuania and other Baltic states. The growing global LNG production capacities are boosting the market liquidity and the availability of moment deals," Dalius Misiunas, CEO of LDT operator Lietuvos Energija, said in a press release.

This will be the fourth LNG shipment purchased by LDT this year, while Natural Gas Fenosa is the fourth LNG supplier to Lithuania.

The first LNG shipment from the US is expected to arrive in Klaipeda in the second half of August. It was purchased from US company Cheniere Marketing International.
