Electricity prices in Lithuania to go down 5% from July

BC, Vilnius, 31.05.2016.Print version
Electricity prices for Lithuanian households are set to decline by 5% from July 2016 after the country's energy market regulator approved the new tariffs on May 30th, cites LETA/BNS.

The standard electricity tariff, which applies to 70% of all private customers of Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius (Energy Distribution Operator, or ESO), will decrease to 12 euro cents per kilowatt-hour, down by 5.5% from the current 12.7 cents.

Darius Bieksa, a member of the National Commission for Energy Control and Prices, says that electricity prices are likely to remain stable in the next five years.

"(The price) should be stable, as far as it can be predicted at the moment," he told BNS after the commission's meeting.

Electricity prices edged down by 1-3% last January.
