Amber Grid signs 10-year contract with Gazprom on gas transit to Kaliningrad

BC, Vilnius, 28.12.2015.Print version
Lithuania’s gas transmission system operator Amber Grid has signed a 10-year contract with Russia’s gas company Gazprom on the transit of gas to Russia’s exclave of Kaliningrad via Lithuania, informs LETA/BNS.

The long-term deal, which was signed on December 24, would come into force in January 2016 and would expire at the end of 2025, Amber Grid said in a filing to the NASDAQ Vilnius Stock Exchange.

Annual revenue from gas transmission services under the new contract would amount to some 10–11 million euros and, as estimated by Amber Grid, would be comparable to the current level of the revenue generated from those services. Transit capacities of 10.5 million cubic meters per day would be booked at the entry point for the Belarusian transmission system and at the exit point to the Kaliningrad region.

Annual transportation of natural gas will total 2.5 billion cubic meters, based on the “ship or pay” clause included in the contract.
