Klaipedos Nafta establishes cooperation with German Bomin Linde LNG

BC, Vilnius, 19.02.2015.Print version
Lithuanian petroleum company Klaipedos Nafta and Germany's natural liquefied gas (LNG) trading company Bomin Linde LNG have signed a memorandum of understanding based on which the two companies will tightly cooperate seeking to develop the LNG market and infrastructure and promote LNG as shipping fuel, reports LETA/ELTA.

Bomin Linde LNG intends to use Klaipeda's LNG Terminal to distribute its shipments in the Baltic Sea region. Together with Klaipedos Nafta the German company will analyse possibilities to develop a joint LNG bunker vessel project.

The vessel would provide LNG bunkering services in the region and transport LNG into a distribution station in Klaipeda, other LNG bunkering terminals managed by the German company and other LNG terminals in the Baltic Sea.

In January 2015 Klaipedos Nafta successfully launched commercial activities of its LNG Terminal and has provided LNG loading and regasification services based on third party access. The company intends to build an underground LNG distribution station in Klaipeda Port to provide LNG bunkering services and load LNG into tank trucks to help satisfy the growing demand for LNG in the Baltic States and Poland.

Hamburg-based Bomin Linde LNG is a leading provider of LNG as shipping fuel.
