Tartu University is the only university in the Baltic States included in the top of Times Higher Education

The list is compiled by the Times Higher Education (THE).
Tartu University rector, professor Volli Kalm said that the Tartu University being among the world's top universities for the third year already is certainly an acknowledgement to the university's staff and students, on the other hand an obligation since constant efforts have to be made in the university's study and research work development.
"The international competition of university education keeps growing, meaning that all universities across the world invest in their development activities, but also in improving visibility and reputation," said Kalm.
The top positions in the list belong to US universities, California Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Just 4 universities from Eastern Europe were among the 400 top universities of the world.
