Stats on school children in Latvia: 7,600 are abroad

Print versionThe State Quality of Education Office of Latvia released its statistics yesterday on the situation in 2011-2012 school year. Local municipalities say that 12,481 pupils are not on any enrollment list in any school in Latvia.

Of this total, 7,674 have relocated to a foreign country with their parents or guardians.
Municipalities report that 3,595 children in Latvia are currently not attending any school for reasons not clear, writes LETA.
Last year, the total number of pupils not on any enrollment list in any school in Latvia was less – 11,327.
