Estonia's University of Tartu ranks 314th in QS World University Rankings
Compared with 2015, the university has risen 65 places.
Taking into account that there are around 26,000 universities in the world, the
University of Tartu ranks among the top 1.2 %.
The international consultation company Quacquarelli Symonds
(QS) uses six indicators to compile the ranking: academic reputation, citations
per faculty, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, international faculty
ratio and international student ratio.
The University of Tartu improved its result in the ranking
of four indicators. An especially big rise was recorded in employer reputation
where the school climbed 90 places. The university also improved its result in
faculty-student ratio, international student ratio and academic reputation.
QS observed 4,000 universities across the world and ranked
980 of them. The top three is made up of U.S. universities -- the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, Stanford University and Harvard University -- while
the best European university, Cambridge University, ranked fifth.
