Monthly salaries for teachers in Latvia – between EUR 411 to EUR 697

The lowest monthly salary for teachers has been recorded at a school in Krustpils Region – EUR 411.17.
Meanwhile, the largest salary has been recorded in a school in Cesis – EUR 697.
As reported, if the new teacher remuneration system is put into practice as is, salaries for 56% of teachers will decrease, according to calculations by the Latvian Trade Union of Education and Science Employees.
Compared to the current system, where "money follows the student", salaries would decrease for 370 out of 651 teachers in general education schools after the new system is put into practice.
According to the trade union's estimates, these teachers' salaries will reduce from EUR 0.80 to EUR 354 as a result.
On the other hand, salaries for the other teachers will increase by EUR 0.80 to EUR 374. This mostly concerns teachers in Riga schools.
The estimates of the Trade Union of Education and Science Employees do not include salaries of school principals, their deputies, and other school workers.
