University of Latvia, Faculty of Social Sciences will host 15 students from Ukraine to educate them about European integration matters, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics announced on his "Twitter" profile, cites LETA.

Rinkevics indicated that hosting these students is Latvia's "contribution and support for Ukraine's European choice".

The said students will study at the University of Latvia for one semester.

As reported, Rinkevics' January 10 meetings with the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in Kiev were highly constructive, as Rinkevics told LETA.

Rinkevics and the Ukrainian president and premier discussed the additional EUR 1.8 billion that the European Union is prepared to give Ukraine, and the complicated situation in Eastern Ukraine, Rinkevics said.

"Both politicians said they had a high opinion of the EU's decision to allot additional EUR 1.8 billion to support Ukraine, as the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker announced in Riga earlier this week. The amount could be further increased," said Rinkevics.

"We also talked about the demarcation of borders, and the situation in Luhansk and Donetsk," added Rinkevics.
