"The security situation in Eastern Ukraine is very poor and this hampers the work of international experts, whose task it is to search for casualties and their personal belongings," said Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.

Paet added that it is extremely tragic that it is still not possible to guarantee safe access to the site of the accident for the experts. "The remnants of the deceased and their personal belongings must reach their loved ones, because it is human, and the least that has to be done," the foreign minister added.

Malaysian national airline's passenger plane was shot down near the Russian border in Ukraine on July 17. 298 people lost their lives in the accident, most of whom were Dutch nationals.
