Lithuania's PM: Moldova made one of the biggest progress of the Eastern Partnership countries

Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius met with Moldova's Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. After the meeting, Butkevicius highlighted that Moldova had made one of the biggest progress of the countries of the Eastern Partnership, informs LETA/ELTA.

On Friday, the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union (EU) should be ratified. It is believed that the agreement will be signed next year.

 

"We are supporting Moldova's striving for integration into the EU. This is Moldova's way to progress," said Butkevicius.

 

Leanca thanked for Lithuania's aid for Moldova while the country was striving for the Eastern Partnership. According to the Prime Minister of Moldova, Baltic States' example was the best example showing the benefits of the EU membership for people of his country

 

The prime ministers discussed the trade relations between the EU and Moldova and the energy projects.

 

Moldova's Prime Minister invited Butkevicius to visit Moldova.

 

Among other items discussed were EU-Moldova trade relations and energy projects. The Moldovan Prime Minister invited Lithuanian Prime Minister Butkevicius to visit Moldova. Noting the success of our country's presidency of the European Council, Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca thanked the Government of Lithuania for a smooth and efficient arrangement of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.
