Ambassador notes growing economic, political and humanitarian Latvian-Uzbek cooperation

Yesterday, Latvian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Igors Apokins met with Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, noting growing economic, political and humanitarian Latvian-Uzbek cooperation, LETA was informed by the Foreign Ministry's press and information department.

Apokins reminded that the sides have already exchanged several visits this year – Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks and Latvian Transport Minister Aivis Ronis visited Tashkent, Uzbek Defense Minister Lieutenant General Kabul Berdiev – Riga.

 

The visit of the Uzbek parliamentary delegation to Riga this past April was also mentioned, as well as the session of the Latvian-Uzbek Intergovernmental Committee in May, indicating increasing parliamentary and economic Latvian-Uzbek cooperation. The officials also lauded the successful transit cooperation between Latvia and Uzbekistan.

 

Kamilov highly appreciated Latvian-Uzbek relations and emphasized Latvia's role as NATO contact embassy in Uzbekistan.

 

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Latvian-Uzbek diplomatic relations.
