Ansip said that the relations between the two states have become more active since his previous meeting with Massimov. The intergovernmental economic, science and technical cooperation committee had its first session in spring in Tallinn and the next meeting takes place in February in Almaty.

Ansip stressed the importance of the visit of Kazakh business leaders society Atameken leadership to Estonia in August, when it became clear that there is major potential for economic cooperation.

Ansip expressed gladness over talks between aviation companies of the two states to launch direct flights. “We hope that these talks end with an agreement and the direct flights from Astana to Tallinn will be launched at the same time with the planned visit of the Kazakhstan president to Tallinn next spring,” said Ansip.

Ansip also reminded at the meetings that Estonia has decided to open an embassy in Astana next year and send a permanently residing ambassador there. Ansip said that hopefully Kazakhstan will respond with the same.
